Terms of Service

Draft, last updated August 2, 2026. This is a starting point, not legal advice; have it reviewed before you rely on it for App Store submission.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Basketly app ("Basketly," "the app"). By downloading or using Basketly, you agree to these Terms.

What Basketly does

Basketly scans photos of grocery receipts, extracts the items using on-device text recognition, and generates a Basket Score and nutrient breakdown based on that data. Basketly is a personal tool for general nutrition awareness, it is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Always consult a qualified professional for guidance specific to your health.

Accuracy

Receipt scanning and item matching rely on automated text recognition and AI classification, which can make mistakes: a misread item, an incorrect nutrient match, or a missed line. You can review and correct items after each scan. Treat your Basket Score as a helpful estimate, not a precise or complete accounting of every purchase.

Your account and content

Basketly doesn't require an account. Scan history and preferences are stored on your device. You're responsible for the receipts you scan and any information you submit through the app, including feedback or bug reports.

Subscriptions

Your first receipt scan is free. Continued use requires a Basketly Plus subscription, billed through your Apple ID at the price shown in the app at the time of purchase (currently $6.99/month or $49.99/year). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's Settings app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account, and Apple's own terms and refund policies apply to all purchases.

Acceptable use

Don't use Basketly to upload content you don't have the right to share, to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the app, or to misuse the receipt-scanning feature for anything other than your own grocery receipts.

Intellectual property

The Basketly app, its design, and its branding are owned by us. You're granted a personal, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

Disclaimer of warranties

Basketly is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores and recommendations will always be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Basketly and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Continued use of Basketly after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
